The fact is that (and as most gurus will always say) - the money is in the list. Without a sizable group of leads, you will not get anywhere!
So, it is essential for every Internet marketer to get started building their own list of leads! To do so, follow these steps.
1. Find out what market you are targeting
You need to know what your eventual customers want, because you need to know what excites them and make them take out their credit card! Without an understanding of this, it is difficult for you to serve your customers.
2. Find a create a product or report which you can give away free.
If you are going to get someone's email address, you have to make an exchange. One of the most powerful laws of persuasion is the law or reciprocity - and by giving your prospects a free report, they will be more obliged to give you their email address. After all, you can say that you will need their email addresses to send them the report by email
3. Subscribe to an autoresponder service
The next step is to find a place where you can automate your personalization of your emails. It is important, because studies have shown that the personalization of emails increase click through rate significantly, and you don't want to be composing 2000 emails out of your Microsoft Outlook!
4. Set up a squeeze page
The squeeze page is a one page website which simply says this "Give me your email address, and I will give you your free report (or product)" A squeeze page should be short and to the point, and all you should have is a compelling headline and bullet points to highlight the benefits of the free product or report.
5. Drive Traffic!
The final thing you need to do to get started building your list to to drive traffic to this squeeze page, and the best way to do this is to write and submit articles, add your site to directories, and do active marketing in forums and blogs. Once the traffic starts pouring in, your home business is on the way!
